Apprenticeship overview

You’ll gain a broad range of knowledge and skills of the essential components that make up IT operations – enabling you to support the business’ IT infrastructure in a helpdesk role. This apprenticeship will build your skills across network configuration, virtualisation and cloud, software installation and testing, data management and cyber security. Key to an end-user centric role, you’ll develop strong communication and problem-solving skills, being able to identify and undertake fault diagnosis and rectification, as well as continual maintenance and updates to hardware and software, ensuring seamless service delivery.  

Who's eligible?

To be eligible for this programme, you must be employed in a relevant role and possess one of the following:
  • A minimum of five GCSEs with grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and maths
OR
  • Relevant work experience

Targeted Skills

  • IT infrastructure support skills, including maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting hardware and software.
  • Network configuration and virtualisation fundamentals to support stable, secure connectivity across the organisation.
  • Cloud technologies and data management capability, enabling effective handling of storage, access, and system performance.
  • Cyber‑security awareness and protective practices to safeguard systems and users from common threats.
  • Helpdesk communication and problem‑solving skills, including diagnosing faults, resolving incidents, and delivering user‑centric support.
